A journey

There were no houses
no mountains no sand
There stood a lighthouse
I mistook for the land

As I captained
my ship so huge
winds blew past me
trying to confuse

Nights were dark
and stars were low
I did not know
where would I go

Happy were the birds
flying and fading
for they knew
where they were heading

I was alone
so was the ocean
silence on the ship
drove the motion

But not were silent
the waves that passed
they came on to me
and broke at last

None of them
lasted so long
but for each of them
I remembered a song

Why did I travel?
what did it mean?
I really don’t know
but a lot has been seen

In the final hour,
now, I stand
the place I believe
I was destined to land!
